Bible Viewpoint on Liars and Thieves

From the Holy List of the Ten Commandments we find it stated that one shall not bear false witness, and the Bible clearly tells us that telling a lie is serious sin. At the present time in some U.S. states there are not any general laws against telling a lie. There are a few laws on the books that make it a crime to tell a lie to the government. But there are not any laws on the books that make it a crime for a politician to tell a lie to the voters. In my opinion it should be a felony violation for an elected politician to tell a lie to the voters, and a misdemeanor violation for a regular citizen to tell a lie. I estimate that in our government system alone the cost to the nation is billions of dollars a year because of the lies told by both government representatives and those not in the government who want unearned money or services. This applies not only to welfare people, but also the many business people who deal with the government to get something unearned. Recent evidence indicates that just about every law passed by the U.S. Congress over the pass five years was at least partially designed to take money from those who earned the money and to give it to people who did not earn the money. The Bible tells us that those who earn the money should be the ones who spend the money. The Bible tells us that those who take money without voluntary permission are stealing. Government taxation is a necessary evil, and should be reduced to the smallest amount possible. The Bible tells us that those who refuse to work shall not eat. The Bible tells us that the poor will continue to be with us; I believe this is because people refuse to obey the Lord -- not only poor persons but also individuals who can help righteous persons among the poor. I believe it is very wrong for the government to force righteous persons in any situation to associate with persons who are not righteous. People who refuse to obey the Lord tend to be excellent liars and excellent sales people for getting something for nothing -- and people who obey the Lord pay the bill. |
