Obeying the Lord

by Larry McCart

One might ask "Why should I obey the Lord when most around me do not obey the Lord?".  There are many reasons for obeying the Lord.  One good reason for obeying the Lord is money.  When people around you know that you obey the Lord, you will be given special honor and trust, and getting a good job will be easier.  Keeping a good job will be easier, and raises will be more likely.  A person who obeys the Lord is better than a person who does not obey the Lord.  A person who obeys the Lord will be an honest and hard-working helper, and will be sought after as an employee.

The Bible is our primary reference book for determining what the Lord wants us to do.  The Hebrew Bible tells us that humans from youth up are evil and dishonest.  By obeying the Lord an individual can get off this path of Satan, and can change over to the right path -- the path made available by the Lord through his holy book the Bible.  In the Bible it says that straight is the gate and narrow is the way.  If more people obeyed the Lord, this path would not be so narrow.

The New Testament tells us that governments of this world are under the control of Satan.  What do I mean by worldly governments?  Primarily I am talking about big-time governmental organizations.  What do these governmental organizations want?  Primarily they want your money, and they want control over your thinking in order to make getting your money easier.

What do they do with the money they get?  The politicians and government employees remove a large portion for themselves, and they use most of the rest for payoffs to political supporters -- payoffs that include some government contracts, some government jobs, some government grants, and some tax law changes.  These actions are defined as legal by political party associates who are judges in the U.S. court system.

The same politicians and government employees who want your money have control over public schools.  Local school boards have lost so much control that they amount to rubber stamps for the politicians.

So-called local public schools have become indoctrination centers for teaching the State religion.  So much time is spent teaching the State religion that many 18-year-old graduates have not developed adequate reading, writing, and math skills.

Students converted to the State religion perceive big-time politicians as "special people" who can do no wrong, when in fact many of them tell lies and vote for laws that result in excessive taxation.  Students will not make this mistake if the Bible is the frame of orientation and the Lord is the object of devotion.
